The standards that must be met by agricultural vehicles that use public roads change on 1 January 2016 after a review of existing standards.
There are detailed new standards covering braking, lighting and visibility, weights and dimensions.
Failure to comply can result in a fine and or imprisonment for the user of the vehicle and the owner of the vehicle.
The Road Safety Authority has issued detailed guidance notes.
