Disclosure of student personal information by secondary school breaches data protection rules
Case Study 9 in the 2012 Annual Report provides details of a complaint made in relation to the disclosure of a student’s personal data without a student’s knowledge or consent or the knowledge or consent of the student’s parents.
The Data Protection Commissioner investigated the matter and decided that the disclosure contravened section 2(1)(c) (ii) of the Data Protection Acts.
